Big Announcement

 Big Announcement!

Hey everyone!  I'm embarking on an incredible journey this semester - the final climb towards my PhD!  It's a mountain of work, but I'm ready to reach the summit in May. This means a few changes:
- My live streams will shift from weekly to random. So, don't forget to turn on those notifications to catch me live
- I'll be less active on social media, but I promise to keep you all in the loop. I’ll of course be posting to my passes! Every sub on passes (my safe for work exclusive content) helps fund my education.
Some of you have been with me since the start of this PhD journey. Your support means the world to me! I'll work hard to share updates amidst all the writing and defending.
And guess what? I'm super excited to see the jellyfishhbloom at the finish line! Just know, my reduced presence this semester is for a great cause.
I'm eagerly looking forward to resuming my regular 2-3 times a week streams once this is all behind me.
Your belief in me keeps me going. I'm not on this path alone. Yes, it's overwhelming at times, but with such an amazing community cheering me on, I know I can do it!

Overcoming the Unthinkable: How Gaming Helped Me Heal

Hello everyone, Felicia here, or as many of you know me, fellybishh. In this post, I'm opening up about a journey that has deeply transformed me – my recovery from a traumatic brain injury. This isn't just a story about healing; it's about how gaming became an unexpected ally in my toughest battle.

The Challenge of a Lifetime

Recovering from a brain injury is like navigating a maze without a map. The challenges are both physical and emotional, and every day brings a new hurdle. In the early days, it was a struggle to reconcile with the sudden changes in my life. That's when I turned to something unfamiliar yet surprisingly therapeutic – gaming.

Gaming as Therapy

You might wonder, how does gaming fit into recovery? For me, it became a form of cognitive rehabilitation. Games requiring strategic thinking helped sharpen my mental faculties, which were affected by the injury. But it was more than just mental exercise. Gaming provided an escape, a world where I could regain a sense of control and accomplishment.

Creativity in Content Creation

Content creation with a brain injury presented its own set of challenges. I had to find new ways to engage with my audience while accommodating my recovery. This led to exploring different content formats and storytelling techniques, making my work more diverse and inclusive. Gaming content became a platform to share my experiences and connect with others going through similar challenges.

Lessons Learned and Shared

This journey has taught me resilience and the power of community. I've learned to embrace my vulnerabilities and turn them into strengths. By sharing my story, I hope to inspire others facing similar battles. Remember, it's okay to lean on your passions for healing, be it gaming or anything else that brings you joy and comfort.

Looking Ahead

As I continue to heal and grow, my mission is to create content that resonates with and supports others. Whether it's through gaming, vlogs, or podcasts, my goal is to foster a community where we can all share, learn, and heal together.

Thank you for being a part of my journey. Here's to many more levels conquered, both in games and in life.

Stay strong, Felicia (fellybishh)

The Uphill Climb: From IEP to Graduate Success

In the narrative of our professional journeys, some chapters are written with struggle, yet they lead to chapters of triumph. I want to share a part of my story that I hope will resonate with many who face their mountains and wonder if the summit is within reach.
Having an Individual Education Plan (IEP) in my formative years was a label that came with its own set of challenges. It was a constant reminder of the uphill battle I faced in a system not fully equipped for someone who perceives the world through the unique lens of autism.
Yet, here I am, not just enrolled in graduate school but thriving amidst its rigorous demands. The road to this point was far from smooth. It was paved with doubts from others, internal battles, and the sheer complexity of adapting to an environment that doesn’t always understand neurodiversity.
But the struggles that once seemed to spell out 'impossible' only reshaped themselves into 'I'm possible.' I’m here to tell you that difficulty does not equate to impossibility. It is often through the most challenging paths that we discover our resilience and capability.
To those who are grappling with their own steep ascents, whether in academia, career, or personal growth, remember that the view from the summit is worth the climb. Keep pushing, keep climbing, keep succeeding. I’m cheering you on!

Reflecting on the journey of becoming a co-owner of an esports org

Reflecting on the journey of becoming a co-owner of the Oklahoma City Chargers, an esports organization, has been a profound experience. Stepping into a domain that has been traditionally male-dominated, the challenges were as much about perception as they were about logistics and strategy. However, it's these very challenges that have made the rewards all the more gratifying.

The attached images showcase the kind of initiatives that resonate with our vision for inclusivity and empowerment in esports. The first image announces an Apex Charity Showdown for Native American Heritage Month, a testament to how we're leveraging the platform of esports to give back to the community and celebrate diversity. The second image highlights our commitment to women in esports through the Day or Night Women's Invitational, raising money for The Trevor Project. It's a powerful message about the place of women in this industry – not just as participants but as leaders and changemakers.

As a woman co-owner, I've learned that our presence at the table can be a catalyst for change. Our organization isn't just about games; it's about creating a space where everyone, regardless of gender, can compete, thrive, and feel valued. The path isn't easy, but with every tournament and every initiative, we're breaking barriers and building a legacy that goes beyond the virtual arenas. #Esports #WomenInGaming #InclusivityInEsports

Reflecting on my dreams as a kid

As I sit here surrounded by piles of research papers and endless drafts of my dissertation, I can't help but think about little me. You know, the one who dreamt of being where I am today.
It's not always glamorous - there are days when the words just won't flow, and the end seems nowhere in sight. But then, I remember that little kid with big dreams, eyes full of wonder and heart full of determination. That little me would be over the moon to see where we are now.
Yes, it's tough. The journey is long, winding, and sometimes feels like an uphill battle. But hey, we're doing it! We're turning dreams into reality, one word at a time.
So here's to all of us in the thick of it, especially my fellow dissertation warriors. Let's remind ourselves that the process, with all its ups and downs, is something to be proud of. We're creating something amazing!
Little me, we're making you proud. And future me, we're setting you up for success. Let's keep going!

A Whirlwind of Laughter and Learning in Research!

A Whirlwind of Laughter and Learning in Research!

Hey everyone, Fellybishh here! Just wanted to share a light-hearted moment from my recent research journey.

While diving deep into the Terry collection for my study, the pressure was real.  My mission? To meticulously index the bones of each individual, detailing every aspect of the bones with anatomical precision. Sounds intense, right?

But here’s the funny part - amidst the crunch time, my notes went from "detailed anatomical descriptions" to... "no time, just look at pics, duh!" Classic me, turning stress into humor.

That's the thing about being a content creator like Fellybishh - my brand is a mix of personality, goals, dreams, and yes, humor, even under pressure!

To all the aspiring content creators out there: Embrace who you are. It crafts the most genuine brand (unless you’re playing a character, which is totally cool too!).

Remember, it's not just about the data; it's about the journey and the laughs along the way!

Graduation bound

As I venture closer to completing my degree and embarking on the journey to become a doctor this semester, I find myself at a unique crossroads of academia and digital storytelling. While I’ve taken a step back from competitive Apex to focus on my studies, my passion for the game and its community remains unwavering. I continue to be an avid follower of the Apex Legends Global Series, drawing parallels between in-game strategies and real-life problem-solving.

My academic pursuit in the bioarchaeology of care has not only deepened my understanding of human history and empathy but also highlighted the importance of care in every aspect of life, including the virtual realms we create and inhabit in games. This interdisciplinary lens has enriched my perspective, allowing me to appreciate the narratives and communities within gaming on a deeper level.

As I navigate this pivotal chapter, I remain committed to sharing my journey and insights with you all. Whether it’s the latest in Apex Legends, a fascinating snippet from my research, or reflections on the intersection of gaming and academia, I look forward to continuing our chat and exchange of ideas.

Your support and engagement mean everything to me, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes us together!
